It seems that the only nail polishes I ever use these days are FOA ones, but they are just so darn good!
Today's NOTD features one of the highly popular Glitterati polishes, Dancing Queen and a Rubi Polish in Purple Haze as a base.
Let's start with the Rubi polish. There is not one thing I could recommend about the Rubi polishes, they are simply awful. They do not last on the nails, they chip instantly, I had to apply 4 coats to get the polish opaque it was streaky and watery. The only remotely nice thing about the Rubi polishes are the bottles - a direct rip off from OPI.
As for the FOA polish, I am highly impressed. Normally I have lots of trouble getting an even glitter payoff across the entire nail and 3 or 4 coats are required for a decent amount of glitter. With this polish it took one swipe to get the glitter look achieved in the photos as it is so glitter dense. It doesn't take too long to dry, lasts an acceptable amount of time and doesn't cost a fortune. I am highly impressed, although the removal process is hell and takes a horrendous amount of time to get this polish off (as do all glitter polishes).
I quite liked this polish with a lavender background. I think almost all colours would work, but next time I might go a bright red!

ReplyDeleteI need to whip out this polish more I love the colour combination of glitters :)
ReplyDeleteI agree about Rubi polishes they are possibly the WORST nail polishes I've ever used!!!

It is such a cool glitter polish and I think it would go with so many base shades. Rubi polishes are horrendous!

I tried one Rubi polish and I absolutely HATED it - binned it after it sat unloved in my drawer for a few weeks (and it had separated and looked disgusting as well). Despite that, the colour is actually really pretty on you! I think it pairs perfectly with the glitter :)
ReplyDeleteI don't understand Rubi polishes - if Ulta can make good quality ones so cheaply, so should Rubi! Haha. Thank you, I was pleased with how the polish combination turned out.

OMG, do not get me started on Rubi nail polishes! I bought a couple bottles a while ago and absolutely regretted it. Even the 'new' polishes (the ones shaped in similar to the FOA bottles) are bad. It's everything a nail polish should not be.
ReplyDeleteBut besides that I love this nail combo. The gold looks stunning against the lavender base.
Haha, oh gosh. Thanks for the heads up about their new formulations!

Ohh! I have this glitter polish too! I really love it over a chrome colour ^_^ Makes the black and yellow glitters pop!
ReplyDeleteNow that is an awesome idea! I don't think I have any chrome polishes but I will be on the lookout now! Thanks for the suggestion!
DeleteI never even knew that Rubi did nail polishes!!!! I've only recently started wearing a few glitter polishes, just wish they were easier to remove!!
ReplyDeleteRubi do make polishes, but they are so atrocious it is unbelievable! Removing glitter polishes is hell!
DeleteI've never tried Rubi nail polishes before but the colour you chose looks lovely :D

Thank you, I am pleased with the purple shade!
DeleteI like this nail combo, and I love the Glitterati nail polishes! Haha I definitely see how the Rubi nail polishes look like an OPI rip off- I remember seeing them sold for mere 50c before and I avoided them :P
ReplyDeleteGood thing you avoided them! The glitterati polishes are so lovely!

ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw pictures of the Face of Australia Glitterati nail polish assortment, my eyes were drawn instantly to the three milky glitters.
