OOTD - Boots & A Trench

It is with great sorrow that I come to acknowledge that the cooler weather is upon us and Winter is lurking just around the corner. I am a summer girl through and through so this realisation seriously is heartbreaking, so to ease the pain a little I thought I'd post an OOTD in an outfit that makes me feel like I've stepped out of a commercial. By the way, you have to find your commercial-esque outfit - you know, the one that makes you feel absolutely freaking gorgeous - because it will change your life.

Perhaps the only good thing about the cooler weather is the fashion that it brings...I for one am a huge fan of scarves, boots and coats. A good trench coat is, in my opinion, an absolute staple in everyone's wardrobe and paired with some heeled boots you're set to go.

Unfortunately for you guys, this entire outfit (excluding only my earrings) is from the Op-shop (what can I say, 90% of my wardrobe is) but it's the staples themselves that you want to invest in, not the exact pieces.

A gorgeous coat is something that everyone needs in their wardrobe and I am in love with this one I got from a dodgy little Op-shop that I rarely visit. I seriously had to search through so much junk to come across this gem as well as doing a little bit of repair with the buttons, but for $9 this was such a good investment.

The boots are another one of my winter favourites. These are just simple, black, lace-up boots with a little heel. They're really quite comfortable all things considered although one downfall is they've quickly become scratched and scuffed. Luckily, because they're black it's not too obvious.

We then have everyone's staple all year round, the comfy jeans. These probably aren't my most comfortable jeans but I like the dark blue denim so they'll do the job.

Add a black and white shirt, some silver jewellery and you have a complete outfit that (hopefully) makes you feel a million bucks!

OOTD - Seeing spots

I recently discovered that I am definitely not a fashion blogger. Do you have any idea just how hard it is to make an OOTD post? I'm telling you, it's darn near impossible.

First you have to come up with an outfit that is suitably fashionable, not too bland but something you wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen wearing in public. For this I chose to incorporate my red skater dress that I managed to get free from the Op-shop (yep, it cost me nothing). Let's just say, it's rather, uh, snug up top so in order to wear it without looking like...well you can imagine what it looks like...I wore a sheer spotted collared shirt from Cotton On that hadn't been getting much love. The result was, in my humble opinion, pretty darn cool. Paired with black stockings, a pair of boots and a blag handbag I think it looks very put together.

Next you have to find a place to take your photos. It needs to be moderately interesting but not too distracting. It's nice if the colour scheme adds to the outfit or if it related to the outfit somehow. Basically, it's really challenging finding somewhere to take your photos.

You then need a photographer. For me I had no choice but to rope my little brother in, which really wasn't ideal for either of us. He was in such a hurry to get it over and done with that we had more horrendous photos than tolerable ones. Half of them cut my legs off, were angled strangely, blurred or too dark. He was bored after the first three photos and spent the entire time making fun of how I looked. I was adament that I had to have the perfect shot and kept harassing him about it. Working with a photographer who didn't want to be there was hard.

So you've managed to get the outfit, the venue and the photographer, now it's time to actually take the photos. Let me tell you, your poses may look cool in a photo but you just look ridiculous in real life. People stare and look at you like you are insane and in the end I spent more time trying not to look suspicious as I stood amongst the weeds in a posh little outfit while my brother yelled about how much longer it was going to take. Oh my gosh.

Last of all is the editing and uploading process whereby you have to find the good shots amongst literally hundreds of terrible ones. You have to adjust the colours if need be, crop them and add them to your post. It is a very time consuming process.

So there you have it, my little taste of the fashion blogger world has shown me that an OOTD post is much harder than it looks, and a simple outfit probably has hours worth of effort behind it!

I hope you like this OOTD, I'll do my very best to continue making them but at this rate it's unlikely I'll post more than one a year!

Haul - Lovisa, Colette, Dotti, Valleygirl, Cotton On and more

As always, the end of Christmas marks some pretty impressive sales for the weeks following. Despite vowing to avoid such sales by simply not going to the shops or closing my eyes whilst walking past, the sales still called out my name and sucked me in. I also found myself in an Op-shop and bought some things there too which I have included in this post.

First up is jewellery, and I bought two things. First was a necklace from Colette which was (not on sale) for $9.95. I would have liked it even more if it had been included in their huge 50% off range but even full priced I still think it is pretty good.

From Lovisa I picked up this ring on sale for $3, marked down from $7.99.

I then went to Dotti and picked up two shirts, the blue striped one for $10 and the plain blue one for $5.

Next was Cotton On where I purchased this scarf for $2 after having been marked down from $14.95, and some shoes (really from Rubi shoes) for $5 down from $19.95. I was very pleased with the shoes especially because I have a pair exactly the same and I wear them so often the soles have fallen off.

I then went Op-shopping and purchased four shirts. The first two were from Valleygirl originally and cost $2 each. The black shirt was originally from Emony and was brand new and therefore cost a little more at $6. Lastly I picked up a short originally from Everlast which cost me $1. I needed a new one for the gym and thought it would be suitable.

I also got a makeup bag from the Op-shop. It was new from Clinique, has two compartments and cost me $2.

So all up for two pieces of jewellery, six tops, a scarf, a pair of shoes and a makeup bag it cost me a total of $42.95 which could easily be charged for a pair of shoes alone!

Haul - Equip, Essence, Cotton on, Maybelline

It has been a very, very long time since I last went shopping and to be honest, this time I didn't actually get as much as I usually do. I still felt as though it could be a slightly interesting haul post, so here it is!

First up is three gorgeous bracelets from equip. They were having huge sales and in the end I got these three for ten dollars!

The black one was originally $18.99, the silver one (which is actually a lot nicer than it appears) was $16.99 and the purple one $19.99. I am so thrilled that I got them all for only ten dollars!

In terms of makeup, I purchased a Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Blast (I can't believe how long I was able to resist!), an Essence eyeshadow in Cappuccino please ($3.25) and an Essence eyeliner in All I want ($0.97).

From Cotton on I found a bag marked down from $39.99 to only $10! It is quite a strange design with a circular base that is terribly difficult to photograph, but I promise you, it is pretty cool, especially for the price.

From K-mart I got some black pants for five dollars (which weren't too exciting so I didn't photograph them).

Last but not least is a Summer Heights High 3 DVD set which I purchased for $17 from JB Hi-Fi. I will admit that the series isn't for everyone, but for those who do enjoy it I think you will appreciate my excitement in regards to this purchase!
