Tis' (not) the season...

I love the thought of wearing makeup and nail polish to suit the season. Autumn makes me think of oxblood red nail polish,chocolate brown eye shadows and deep berry lipstick yet lately I've been reaching for the most seasonally inappropriate polishes in my collection. I don;t know what it is but I've been craving bright pinks, sand browns and oranges, shades I would associate more with Spring than Autumn. I blame all the American youtubers I watch!

I decided to make a little post about it anyway because who said you have to stick to the rules?

First up is the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Rosy Outlook. This is a spring polish if I ever saw one, the most beautiful bright warm pink that looks simply gorgeous on the nails. I love the formula of this polish as it is quite chip resistant, as well as the wonderful flattened brush that makes it so easy to apply.

We then have a Face of Australia polish (let's face it, I can't get enough of FOA), in 'Would you like some orange sherbet?' Once again there is no denying this orange pastel is a spring colour through and through, but I've been wearing it a lot in these autumn days. 

I then have an Essence polish that is the newest addition to my collection and I am completely addicted. The Nail art topper in 'Black Dress and white tie' is undeniably fascinating to look at and perhaps the coolest glitter/special effect polish I own. 

Next is my very first Essie polish in a beautiful, ever so slightly shimmery skin tone beige shade called Mambo. This is the most flattering neutral I have ever stumbled across and would be perfect for office wear. For my first Essie polish I am thrilled!

I then have Rimmel Space Dust polish, one of the recent 'textured' polishes that have come out. This is pure silvery pink glitter and honestly, who could resist that?

Last but not least is a mini Essie polish in 'Meet me at sunset' a striking orange that demands your attention. When I wear this I cannot help but stare admiringly at my beautiful, bright nails.

So there you have it, the most inappropriate nail picks for autumn that I have been enjoying immensely over the past couple of weeks!

Ring Collection Update

I have an obsession with rings. I love them. Necklaces and bracelets and earrings are nice, but it is rings that take the cake for me. Back in February 2012 I posted my ring collection but of course it has since grown to accommodate for some beautiful rings that I wear all the time, and I thought I might show them to you!

I am a bit of a bargain hunter and I tend to only pick rings up when they are under about $5. Of course, the quality of the majority of the rings I own isn't that great but it doesn't bother me because I pay so little for them.

It is a bit of a pain when the rings tarnish because some of them were so lovely to begin with. It was interesting comparing the tarnished rings to the initial post when they were all shiny and beautiful - they look so different!

My Makeup bag collection

Let me get this straight: I have absolutely no idea how I acquired this many makeup bags. Seriously, are the breeding in my cupboard or something?

Since I have so many I figured I may as well show you them all.

1. Green and white with stripes - I posted about this one here, but basically I picked it up from the Op-shop (it was new) for $2. It was originally from Clinique.

2. White bag with red trimming - Perhaps the most boring one of the lot, this one was also from Clinique but I picked it up new from the Op-shop (it was years ago though).

3. Clear makeup bag - I bought a whole heap of Formula 10.0.6 skincare products (most of which I really didn't like) and this was the bag that they came in. I'm not a fan of the clear plastic, but it is handy when you need to find things quickly and easily.

4. Small pink plastic with black trimming - Basically I haven't got a clue where this came from!

5. Cream with gold trimming - I was given this as a gift, I believe it came from Avon. It's more like a pencil case than a makeup bag though.

6. Floral printed bag - this is a silky material and came from Sportsgirl, though this was another gift. I use it for jewellery when I am travelling.

7. Silver and white striped bag - I have no idea where this came from, but it is pretty appalling (all the stitches are falling apart and it is very poorly made) and I'm not keen on it.

8. Red and white striped bag - Yet another gift, this one is from Tommy Hilfiger and I imagine it would have cost a fair bit to purchase!

9. Pink and white printed bag with black trimming - This is a really good size for a weekend long trip, for those who pack an excessive amount of makeup. It lets you pack a fair bit but not go too crazy!

There it is, my makeup bag collection. It's not a terribly thrilling post but everyone needs one, and I'm quite nosy and like looking at other people's makeup bags!

My little lipstick collection

Despite the fact that I am obsessed with lip products, I have very few lipsticks (well in comparison to balms and glosses). I've got glosses coming out of my ears, and as for lip balms, I could support the whole of Sydney with lip balms for a month, (perhaps a slight exaggeration) but as for lipsticks, I don't have nearly as many. I don't mind, the colours that I have are used well to their maximum potential, and I am quite content, but when I see a lippy on sale really cheap, I'm sure to snap one up.
Of course everything is relative - I have a lot of lipsticks compared to other people, but when you take a look at some other collections of bloggers and youtubers (is that a word?) it doesn't even make up 1/100th of their collection.

Anyway, back to the point.

I am so pathetic when it comes to bold makeup looks. Neutrals are who I am. Needless to say, I don't have any really unusual colours (like purple) or any dark colours (they just are not my thing!). Pinks are the way to go. I have been wanting a good red, but of course I can't justify paying for one because I know I'll never wear it. I don't go out anywhere remotely formal very often either, so a red lipstick would just be of no use to me.
I tried sorting my lipsticks into pinks, nudes and red/oranges but it didn't really work out like that. It's obvious I tend to gravitate to a particular colour.

My (little) ring collection

I have decided to post my collection of cheap rings, you know, the ones from Diva and the likes. I love cheap rings because they add to the outfit and believe it or not they draw in compliments like you wouldn't believe! I get more compliments on some of these rings than I do for my clothes, shoes and makeup! I don't know what it is but there is something about them!

I haven't always been such a ring fan...it was really only 2011 that I really got into them. I received a couple of them as gifts and the rest of them I bought either really cheaply at markets or when they were on special at Diva or equip. I wouldn't have paid more than five dollars for any of the rings!

As you can see from the first photo, I am definitely into silver more than I am gold. Of course none of these rings are actually real silver (except for the one with the purple stone) but I don't really mind. The only thing that does really bother me about this cheap jewellery is that they go all gross and discoloured in absolutely no time at all. It's so frustrating! Still, what should I expect when I pay so little. I have to try and stop myself from getting too attached because in no time they are unwearable.

 The yellow ring I can remember getting for fifty cents at a market. I think I have worn it about twice. I wasn't all that sure about it but a couple of people have commented that they quite like it. It looks a little cheap and tacky to me but oh well, it is a very fun and happy piece of jewellery!

A couple of those plain silver rings came together in a set, I think I remember paying five dollars for them. I have worn them a heck of a lot, and now they are all gross. So disappointing.

My most commented on rings

 The rings in the photo to the left are the ones that I receive the most compliments on. The purple one is one that my mother has given to me. I think it has made the rounds with several of the females in my family, and now I have ended up with it. I think it is probably my favourite of the lot, even though it is so simple. The next one along was fifty cents and (very surprisingly) it seems to be very much loved by everyone else who saw it. I was totally shocked, I mean, it's nice but not that nice. The next one is incredibly commented on, more than any of the rings. I am quite fond of this one. And, last but not least, this little five dollar beauty is one of my favourites and everyone elses favourite too!

The rings to the right are all my favourites. The white one and the striped one are very simple but I think they compliment a lot of my outfits (which are mainly made up of grey, white and black) very well. The leaf ring is one that was kind of love at first sight. As soon as I set eyes on it I had to buy it, especially as it was so cheap!
