Monthly Favourites - January

The first month of 2013 is well and truly over, and the realisation that one twelfth the new year has passed has been quite a surprise if I'm really honest with you. To think that the countdown to the end of the year has already begun!

As always, here are the products I used most regularly in January.

Face - I wrote a raving review about the incredible concealing properties of the Catalina Geo Skin Cover, and as a result I used this basically everyday. As this is not a cheap product I probably should be using this a little more sparingly, but I just love it too much. I will miss it when it runs out!

Eyes - This little eyeshadow quattro by Essence, whilst not the most amazing product I have ever stumbled across, is one that I've been using regularly, though the second peachy shade in particular. As I mentioned in the review, this is not the best eyeshadow in the whole world but for five dollars I have had a lot of decent wear out of it and I shall continue to use it.


Lips - My love for lip crayons carries on, with my Face of Australia lip crayon in Macaron stealing the lip category spotlight. I don't know what it was about this shade (usually Cupcake is easily the most worn) but I turned to it so often it wasn't funny. I love it so much.

Nails - For nails it was terribly easy, because I wore a long ago discontinued polish by Innoxa on my toes all month. It is in the shade Hot Chilli but it was literally years and years ago that I purchased this.

Other - Lastly is the other category, and for January it easily goes to the Paul Penders P.M. Moisturiser (night cream) that I won in a giveaway (more coming up in regards to that soon!). I've never used a night cream but I have since discovered how lovely they are, being a thicker and more luxurious cream for overnight wear. I will eventually get around to completing a review on it but if you were thinking about getting it, you certainly get my tick of approval.

If all my makeup disappeared tag

I saw this tag on lovely Gianna's blog, Makeup & Me. When I first read the heading of the post that she had written, I thought it said 'All my Makeup disappeared!" I was shocked and clicked on the link about 100 times, thus resulting in a jammed computer and several 'ding ding ding' noises coming from my computer. Whoops. When it finally untangled itself, I realised that there was an 'if' written in front, which allowed me to relax a little. I mean come on, how bad would it be if all your makeup just disappeared!

Okay, so the tag involves choosing the ten products that you would repurchase IF all your makeup just magically disappeared. I am also going to include a nail polish for the fun of it.

1) BYS Colour changing polish in Salmon

I adore the colour of this polish when it's cool. It's the most amazing mix of pink, red and coral. I could stare at my nails all day when I wear this. It's funny, because reading other people's blogs on the Internet, so many people have said how much they disliked the colour and the fact that it is matte(ish). I must be weird, but I don't care - I am in love with this colour!

2) I would have to keep my Innoxa foundation in Sandstone, because to be honest, it is amazing. I never used to wear foundation, but when I found this super light foundation that covered and evened out skin tone, I fell in love. I will admit that I haven't tried that many foundations in my time, but this is the best one that I have come across.

3) My Covergirl Lash blast water resistant mascara would also be something I would repurchase. It doesn't clump, it really is water resistant and it creates the most beautiful, long, lovely lashes. Ahhhh....

4) My Nivea tinted lipbalm in Guava would definitely be a repurchase. The review I did on it was the first review I ever did (hence why it is so dodgy!!!) and I love it so much. The colour is this subtle pink berry kind of colour, and makes your lips smell gorgeous, look so juicy and feel so moisturised. Amazing!

5) The lipstick I would repurchase is the Loreal lipstick in the shade Pink Fever. If you read the review I wrote, I will never need to explain why I love it ever again! It's just perfect.



Pretty in Pink



6) My BYS blush in the shade Pretty in Pink is something I would also repurchase. Apart from it being so cheap, it is such a nice colour and works with any look I create.

7) My Savvy by DB lip gloss in Pink Diamond I would repurchase. Every girl needs a bit of gloss, and this gloss is just gorgeous. Silky, glossy and smells lovely. Perfect!

8) Maybelline Baby lips in Antioxidant Berry. So cheap. So wonderful.

9) The eyeshadow I would repurchase would be my Maybelline Eyeshadow palette in Autumn Spirit. It has four colours that are so wearable, and I wear them ALL the time.

10) The last product I would repurchase is my Rimmel London Anti-fatigue concealer, because sometimes, well, you need a little extra coverage!

Oh that was so hard. I didn't get to include any of my Rimmel London 60 second polishes, or my new BYS Sassy Salmon lipstick, or my other Savvy lipgloss.That was near impossible, that tag!

Innoxa Perfect Lip Gloss - Rose Petal

I had only ever had one other Innoxa product (their foundation) and I was really impressed, and so I decided to give their lip products a go too.

The Innoxa perfect lipgloss in Rose Petal is a pale pinky colour mixed with an earthy kind of colour, making it a fairly natural shade. It has a slanted tip applicator so it is very easy to apply, but it has this funny plastic kind of smell that is a little off putting. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be some particular smell, but it really wasn't nice.

I found that the lipgloss leaked a little bit, so I wasn't keen on taking it around with me in my bag because I was afraid it was going to leak onto everything.

It was thick and a bit sticky, but I didn't find it to be too much of a problem. It was very shiny and glossy and looked lovely. I had to put two coats on to get any hint of the colour, but when doing that I found that there was too much on my lips. I would just stick to the one coat for comfort and appearance purposes, unless you like the look of lipgloss smeared across your chin after it has slipped off your lips (personally, it's not my favourite look of all time)!

It does claim to have high shine, plump, moisturise and protect your lips. I think I am going to have to agree in that it does seem to be plumping - I think it is because it is so glossy - and moisturising. It's not overly long lasting, but it's not too bad. It makes your lips look lovely and smooth, almost glassy in appearance.

It's the kind of lipgloss that I would not be afraid to wear everyday, because whilst it is very glossy, the colour isn't too outrageous.

It's a shame that a) it leaks and b) it smells so funny, because otherwise I would have really liked this product. I still like it, but I would go for some other lipglosses over this one.

I give this product 7 out of 10.

Innoxa Foundation

I was on holidays and I hadn't packed any makeup because I wasn't planning on doing much...until we bumped into family friends and decided to go out to dinner at this posh restaurant. Great. Well, I made my way up to the chemist in the hope that they would have some cheap (but quality) makeup I could get. I was in luck. Up on the counter was a basket marked 1.50. Yes, I know, I know, you have to be careful about bargain bins with prices so low, but seriously, it was amazing. There were no smushed fluro green lipsticks, nor were there busted yellow eyeliners, it was incredible. I ended up buying 3 lipbalms, 2 lipglosses and 2 foundations. Yes, I may or may not have gone a little crazy!

Anyway, back to the Innoxa foundation. As I mentioned, I got two - Buttermilk and Sandstone. They are the best foundations I have ever had. *Note that I haven't really had all that many foundations before!* The Buttermilk matches my skin perfectly in winter, and the Sandstone in summer, and boy do I get some compliments on my skin!

They're in these little frosted glass bottles and are a great size. I looked them up on the Internet and couldn't find them, so I'm using them incredibly sparingly and treasuring them. I do not want to run out! I wonder how much they are supposed to cost...I would pay a lot for them!

They soak right and in feel great. They don't look cakey but give you a nice, smooth glow that evens out the skin tone. Beautiful!
