Maybelline Colour Tattoos in Barely Branded and Bold Gold

Oh my gosh it's another post on YouReview, can you believe it?! As always, I apologise for the pathetic lack of posts lately but that's just how life has been.

I am really excited to do this post because I'm talking about a product I just love, the Maybelline Colour Tattoos! "Seriously?!" I can hear you say, "These have been out for a million years, everyone knows how great they are." Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all know I am renowned for jumping on the bandwagon years after something makes its debut but whatever, this post will probably remind you of an old favourite to get out from the back of your makeup drawer!

I was at Chemist Warehouse and they were having one of their amazing 50% off sales when I saw these beauties up for grabs. I really wanted the bronze shade however that was sold out so I figured a gorgeous golden champagne colour and gold shade would be fun to try out. I rushed home to try them out and was immediately thrilled with my purchases.

In all honestly, I expected these to be quite difficult to work with, thick and not terribly creamy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that these are so easily applied using your fingers and give a gorgeous colour payoff with wonderful pigmentation. My favourite of the shades is undoubtedly Barely Branded, the most gorgeous all over the lid base shade that can be used on its own or with a similar colour powder shadow over the top. It is very bright and eye catching so it's not really something I wear everyday, rather I save it for special occasions or nights out.

Bold Gold is also a beautiful colour however because it really is a true metallic gold shade it's not quite as wearable. If I want my eyes to be the focus then I'll pull out this beauty and go for a golden/bronze look.

In terms of application, like I mentioned I find these apply best when simply using your fingers. With a brush it doesn't apply nearly as pigmented and can be a little patchy. I do, however, use a brush to blend out the edges or blend it into other shadows and find that it is really effective.

Because these are a little tacky in texture, they stick to my lids like glue which is magical. I don't have to worry about it fading or transferring and making a mess everywhere which I have had to do with some cream shadows in the past. Another thing I am thrilled with is that they don't crease at all, a rare occurrence with cream shadows. They blend perfectly with other shadows (whether they be cream or powder) and are just so versatile and easy to use. I love that you can just apply these and wear them on their own or layer them with other shadows to create gorgeous looks.

I am curious as to whether they will dry out as time goes on and how long it takes for them to do that. These are affordable even when they aren't on sale so I'm sure I'll be repurchasing a colour or two when they do.

I am so glad I eventually got around to trying out the Colour Tattoos because they are as good as they look! If you haven't got your hands on them yet I would highly recommend giving one a shot.
