Monthly Favourites - August

I have kind of been on an unofficial spending ban this month following my trip to Cambodia where it really hit home how excessive my makeup collection had become. Sticking to the products I owned and ignoring the ones that I wanted to buy, I really came to appreciate my collection a little more and get some really good use out of the products I have. Here are my favourites for this month...

Face: Let's start with the face product, my ultimate favourite for this month. When I purchased the Rimmel Wake me up Foundation I had no idea that it would become such a staple for me! I don't wear this everyday because my skin hasn't been too bad at the moment and a BB cream has been sufficient, but this is my go-to product on the weekends and any special occasions. I am sure you have heard other bloggers and youtubers rave...they have good reason to!

Lips: For lips this is most definitely an everyday kind of product - my Maybelline Baby lips in Pink Lolita. When I first purchased this I didn't use it nearly as much as my non tinted Baby lips, but the tables have turned and now I much prefer a bit of colour. It's not too overpowering and looks quite natural, but it still adds a lot to an overall look in one quick and easy swipe of colour.

Eyes: I've been stuck in a rut with my eyeshadow this month, and I love it! I have found an overall look that really works and I just go back to that when in doubt! I will have a post about it, but the main shadows I use are from the Maybelline quad in Autumn Spirit.

Nails: My nails favourite is easily the Essence Colour and Go Polish in English Rose. A beautiful, neutral rosy shade perfect for all occasions. Enough said.

Other: Last but definitely not least is my Batiste Dry Shampoo in Cool and Crisp Fresh. I love dry shampoo, which is terrible because it makes me so lazy. I use this all the time and I won't be stopping any time soon.

It's so strange to think that we are at the end of August! I remember being back in January and thinking that this year couldn't go quick enough and here we are now! Anyhow, that's my August favourites!

  1. I'm already lazy as it is with washing my hair but I really want to try dry shampoo for volume as my hair literally falls flat!

    1. Dry shampoos do add a little 'grit' which is a nice addition, but I myself use them primarily for extending the life of my hair without a complete wash!

  2. Nice faves Candice!
I have English Rose but it didn't seem to work for me. It was gloopy and couldn't dry. Maybe I didn't apply thin enough coats?
I have Pink Lolita sitting in my drawer unopened but I can't wait to try it :)

    1. Hmmm that is so disappointing because I found the formula to be just perfect! I also found that it dried quite quickly. That is so strange! I like Pink Lolita because it gives a significant amount of colour that isn't too subtle or too overpowering.

  3. I love dry shampoo as well - couldn't be without it! Saves me so much time and effort, especially during the week when I'm feeling tired and can't be bothered washing my hair at night. It's good to hear that you've focused on using your existing products and started to appreciate them more - sometimes all we need is that reality check about everything that we have at home that is crying out for some attention!

    1. Dry shampoo is the greatest creation! It's been so nice using my old favourites again...it is so easy to get caught up with new and exciting products all the time but when you go back and appreciate what you already have it makes you realise how over the top life can be sometimes!

  4. I agree, the baby lips are sheer but add so much to a look! I love the shade 'Cherry Me!'.

I wish they sold the 'Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation' in the US!

    1. Pink Lolita is the only tinted shade I have tried but it is an excellent one! It surprises me that they don't - the US often has all the products that Australia doesn't have!

  5. Wake me up foundation is one of my favourites. It is like Chanel Lumiere but so so much cheaper. I love a good dry shampoo too, and have totally been coverting batiste cherry dry shampoo

    1. I've never tried any of the higher end foundations but if they are anything like Wake me up I would be pleased! I am a huge fan of bargains though, which Wake me up certainly is!

    1. Thank you! I was a bit unsure about the little shimmery parts of the foundation at first but I have since grown to love them and I think they are really what make the foundation stand out!
