Burts Bees Radiance Night Cream with Royal Jelly

I'm going to say it: this night cream is the bee's knees. Oh lord, yes I went there with that horrendous pun but in all seriousness, it truly is a wonderful night cream.

I was recently given the opportunity to try out some of the new Burts Bees skincare products and after having looked at the press release, I was immediately hooked. Believe it or not, I'd actually only owned one Burt's Bees product myself (the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream) but had stolen a lip balm of my Mum's and used something from a friend and knew it was a brand I was be a fan of. It's one of those brands that also has cult products that everybody knows about too, so I was sure I couldn't go wrong with their skin products.

I received a moisturiser and toner and the moisturiser has made it into an absolute staple in my skincare routine. I've decided I cannot go without a night cream anymore because they have that extra bit of moisture and are just so luxurious. I love waking up to the most beautifully soft skin!

The first thing I noticed about this moisturiser is the texture. It's kind of reflective of most body butters I've tried, although perhaps the slightest bit softer. Despite this, it doesn't feel overly thick on my face and soaks in really well (however this could be because I've had stupidly dry skin lately). It is, however, a night cream and I don't think makeup would work well over the top because it would probably slide around a little bit.

The next thing I became aware of was the fragrance. I am one of those people who love scented products, particularly for the body, but when it comes to the face I steer clear. All the additives and strong scents are too much for the skin on my face and it just all ends badly. This night cream isn't completely scent free but has a lovely fresh, slightly honey based scent that seems so natural and hasn't caused any problems.

Though it claims to be a 'radiance' moisturiser, I've not personally noticed any difference in my skin but that's probably because I've been unbelievably stressed out with school work and have not been taking care of my skin, diet or anything really of late! In terms of the ingredients within it, royal jelly is obviously the big one! Apparently "Royal Jelly is one of the world's most nutrient-rich substances ...and offers many skin benefits."

I absolutely love the little glass jar the product is kept in, I think it is classy and just the loveliest thing to have on your dresser. For a retail price of $39.99 (although it's currently on sale at Priceline) it is one of the more expensive moisturisers I've tried, but I do love it. I'm not sure I'll repurchase it while I'm on a student's budget (aka. no money whatsoever) but I am really enjoying this product! Burt's Bees, I'm impressed!

Monthly Favourites - March

Believe it or not, it's time for another Monthly Favourites post!

This month it was ridiculously easy to pick which products needed to go in this post. I didn't have to spend more than a second considering any of these products.

Lips: For March my most used lip product has definitely been the Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. I purchased this in the middle of March and have been wearing this every single day since. It is the most gorgeous Berry shade that isn't too dark or scary. The only problem I have with this is the crazy price in comparison to America, but I picked it up as part of a deal so it wasn't so bad.

Eyes: I was lucky enough to win an Urban Decay Ink for Eyes Eyeliner from Jen over at The Shopping Queen in the shade Demolition. Though I typically don't wear all that much eyeliner, I have worn this nearly every day because of the gorgeous formula and the incredible brush that is included. SO impressed.

Nails: I wrote a review on the Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream that, again, I was lucky enough to win in a giveaway from Dawn over at See it, Love it, Swatch it. This is so effective at keeping my nails and cuticles moisturised and in good condition after being treated so very poorly!

Face: For face products, the only product that I have been using consistently on a regular basis is a new moisturiser of mine - the Simple Hydrating Moisturiser. It is light weight but gets the job done and is also free of all the nasty things that you wouldn't want to be part of your skincare. I'm very pleased with this new change to my skin care routine.

Other: Last but not least is the 'other' category. I chose to feature this pair of shoes because they are literally all that I wear these days! As they are simple black flats they go with everything and even better is that I can pick them up from Rubi shoes between $5-$10. Excellent!

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. Perhaps the most adorable looking product ever created. In this lovely little tin is a waxy balm or 'cuticle cream' that smells like Lemon Sherbet - a scent I never really thought much of until I discovered this product.

I was so lucky to receive this product in a giveaway prize from Dawn over at See It, Love It, Swatch it. This is the first Burt's Bees product that I have ever tried and I am so very impressed.

I don't really look after my nails. I don't damage them or anything, I just make no effort to care for them especially. Since receiving this product I have made an effort daily to apply this and it really has made such a difference to the state of my nails, or at least cuticles. Though it is described as a cuticle cream, it certainly is more of a balm or a wax as it is quite hard, not at all cream-like.

I have found that where my nails used to be slightly weak and my cuticles a little dry, they are now stronger and more nourished. In saying that, my nails were never really in a dire kind of state, so the change hasn't been all that drastic.

I apply this before bed as it does leave a bit of a greasy residue before soaking in. I love the scent it gives, a fizzy, citrus, lemon smell that is quite refreshing. I probably wouldn't use it throughout the day, simply because it does transfer everywhere before soaking in.

The only problem that I have with this product is what I love about it too - that it comes in a little tin. I love the size and convenience of the tin, I just find that the product inside gets so grotty. That said, I don't believe there actually is an alternate way to package this, I just feel that I should mention its tendency to get all gross and grotty.

I'm not 100% sure how much it retails for, though I think it is around $15. I don't know how that compares with other, similar products, but I probably wouldn't bother purchasing this myself. I do really, really like it but I simply don't feel that I need it. I will certainly be using it regularly though!

I am very impressed with my first product from Burt's Bees and I shall keep an eye out for other products to pick up in the future.

I give this product 8/10.
