Travel Times!

As you may know, I recently went on a trip to Cambodia. It was without a doubt the best thing I have ever done in my (short) life, and I have come back quite a different person. I don't think this is surprising, especially considering the nature of the trip where we went to poorer communities to fund and contribute to the building of houses of those suffering from HIV/Aids. As you can imagine, returning to Australia has been quite difficult.

I have also had trouble coming to terms with my blog in fact, struggling with the fact that all that I used to post about seems so excessive and unnecessary. Don't worry, I am certainly not going to give it up because blogging has helped me in so many ways in my life, and beauty is still a hobby of mine, but I certainly have had a big think about everything and for the time being, purchasing cosmetics just isn't all that appealing. I doubt very much that this feeling will last forever, but this blog might be a little strange for the time being as I reevaluate it all and come to terms with how much I have in comparison to how little everyone had over in Cambodia, and attempt to justify my interest in makeup and beauty related things. If anyone has ever experienced this, I would love to hear your thoughts and how you feel about it all.

Anyway! Instead of one huge great post I wanted to space it out a little and post a picture or two from my trip every week for however long I feel compelled to! I thought you might appreciate that a little more than a gazillion word post overloaded with thousands of pictures! I shall call it 'Travel times!'

For this first post is the series photo above, a picture from the temple Ta Prohm at the Temples of Angkor that we visited, where the movie Tomb Raider was shot. I felt like I was in some kind of magical land at this temple, it was just so beautiful.

Keep an eye out every Monday for a photo and short explanation from my travels. Thank you all for continuing to support my blog while I was away too, I really appreciate the comments you left!

  1. That is totally understandable. Seeing people who live off of bare necessities that sometimes they might not even have really makes our "obsession" with beauty products so insignificant.

If blogging about makeup isn't that appealing anymore, maybe you can just blog about whatever you want? Like food or fashion etc. It's your blog and I'll be one of those people who'll support whatever you decide! :D

    1. Naw thanks so much Sheri, I need supportive people like you! I don't know what will happen really...I have quite a few posts that are scheduled, so I can be a bit slack for a while and my blog won't suffer too much! I probably will end up broadening my posts and what this blog is about but I doubt I will completely stop blogging about makeup, but the simple fact is that I do enjoy it and I don't think other beauty bloggers should feel guilty about it, so I shouldn't have to either. Agh, it's really tough!

  2. Looking forward to these posts from you!
After a few beauty related hauls, I did, reconsider my actions.
We're very fortunate to have many luxuries! :)
