Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Eyeshadow - Snap Attack

This is a product I never thought I would write a review on, simply because I've not ever found the Australis eyeshadows terribly appealing and haven't bothered to pick anything up. However, when I was at the shops and noticed that this had been marked down from $15.95 to $7.95, I really couldn't resist. This was the only shade option so I crossed my fingers that I would be a fan of the shadows in the palette...as soon as I opened it I knew I would! Having checked out the other shade options on their website, I think I got a pretty good deal!

Australis is a bit of a strange brand. They have products that just don't interest me in the slightest, and then they also have products that I would just die for (like the Pout Pastes and Glitter polishes). This eyeshadow palette was one that I never ever cared for, even after having heard positive reviews. I don't really know why because the shades are so my thing, but I just didn't want it. It is still quite weird that I actually own it now...

Anyhow, what do I think of it now that it is in my grubby little hands?

I don't like the packaging. It is a glossy black with metallic pink writing and fingerprints show up on it like nothing you've ever seen. It is super chunky, and I am not a fan of the arrangement of the shadows in the pan...what is with the strange shapes? I find it hard to get my brush in there and I expect if I ever get around to hitting pan, it will be a real pain trying to get the last of the shadow out of the corners. Australis, why did you choose to make it like this?

Moving onto the shadows, they are just brilliant. They are all so silky and have a gorgeous velvety sheen. They are highly pigmented, have a super shiny finish and are just beautiful. They are in no way chalky and there is certainly no fallout when using them. I adore all the shades, although the central orange coppery shade is a little difficult to wear but I am sure I will find a way!

I love that though these are very shimmery, there are no noticeable glitter 'chunks' that some of the cheaper brands seem to love incorporating into their shadows. These blend into one another with such ease, creating seamless eye looks.

I found it easy to create beautiful eyeshadow looks with this palette, and was impressed with the lasting power. There was slight creasing by the end of a long day, but like I have mentioned many times before, this doesn't bother me terribly much.

There are a couple of palettes to choose from, but I certainly think I managed to come into possession of the one that I would like the most. The price isn't as cheap as perhaps Essence, but for 5 eyeshadows $15.95 is pretty impressive...even better if you can find it on sale like me!

I love love love this palette and I am so glad that I went for it! The quality of these shadows is just impeccable, the 5 shades varied enough to be different from one another yet similar enough to create a unified eye look, and the price range pretty good. My only complaint is the packaging.

I give this 9 out of 10.

  1. I totally agree with you when you say some Australis products appeal to you and others don't! I'm absolutely obsessed with their Finishing Spritz, but never really paid attention to their eyeshadows (except for the Nudist palette). I'll definitely start investing some money into trying out their eyeshadows more now after reading this though!

  2. I bought this last week at my priceline because it was on sale as well! A bit of impulse buy, because it was so cheap, but I'm glad I did. I love it! :) xo
